This is a great write up! One thing to add is the Wiki method where you ask Claude to keep track of a set of folders and write an evolving wiki based on what changes. I use this to track patterns across my weekly reviews over time and to help me mature ideas for my blog

I had no idea Obsidian could even connect to Claude, much less do all of this. Thank you for the writeup.

Why would you need my of these? Doesn’t simply pointing Claude Code (or cowork) to the same folder as your vault give you exactly the same without any plug-ins?

I was unable to find the obsidian git plugin

Thanks for taking the time to collect all this info, it’s very helpful and well writing!

Most people use Cowork projects (mktg, clients, writing, etc). That’s also where domain-specific notrs and artifacts get created. They sometimes map their Obsidian to the Cowork root folder.

Usually Obsidian notes have their dedicated project. How do you connect both? Seems counterintuitive to read all project outputs and move notes to obsidian folder and have to use the obsidian MCP to bring back that context? Any recommendation?

Obsidian works like a CLI too (with Claude Code), so way less token usage compared to MCP. You keep your foundational files (i.e. brand voice, offers, agents, etc) on Cowork/Code on a desktop folder, while treating Obsidian as an evolving second-brain. Obsidian will create a local folder of all your notes in MD format too. That doesn't mean confusion, it means they're easily accessible.

I get it. CLI or Cowork is irrelevant IMHO. How do you orchestrate calling the right knowledge at the right time?

You can probably build some knowledge mapping in CLAUDE.md for a project and hope your agent will call it JIT. It feels like hope, not software.

It’s hard to find anyone who can explain what works for them in real life and has stress tested in production.
